Summer Program For Elementary

Summer Program is a well-rounded educational experience that includes STEM exploration, creative arts activities, interactive games, and outdoor adventures. Your child will have the opportunity to create friendships, make lasting memories, and build valuable skills for future
academics.

Summer program is offered to all students enrolled in the Hermiston School District. Registration for elementary summer program opens March 23 and closes May 1.

Program Details

  •  Location: Rocky Heights Elementary School
  •  Dates: June 22 through July 17
  •  Hours: 7:30am-1:45pm

After School Childcare:

  • After school childcare is available through our partner Champions. Families are encouraged to contact Champions staff to inquire about registration and cost.

Enrollment Capacity

  • Grades K-2: 100 students per grade
  • Grades 3-5: 80 Students per grade

Registration Process

  •  Registration opens March 23 and closes May 1.
  • Once registration closes families will be notified if their student is enrolled. If the enrollment capacity has been reached in their child’s grade, they will be notified that their child has been added to the waitlist.
  • If your child is enrolled you must confirm their spot by accepting the invitation.
  • If your child is on the waitlist, Summer Program staff will contact you should an opening come available. Students will be enrolled from the waitlist in sequential order by registratation date.

Summer Program for Middle School 

Middle School Summer Program is a fun and engaging 3-week experience designed to help students build skills, explore new interests, and feel confident for the upcoming school year. Through hands-on learning and interactive activities, students will have opportunities to create, collaborate, and get ahead academically while enjoying a supportive summer environment.

Summer program is offered to all students enrolled in the Hermiston School District. Registration for middle school summer program opens March 23 and closes May 1.

Program Details:

  • Location: Sandstone Middle School
  • Dates: June 15 – July 2
  • Open to incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students
  • Hands-on learning experiences that support academic growth and skill building
  • Designed to help incoming 6th graders get a strong start in middle school
  • Supports current 7th and 8th grade students in strengthening key skills for the next school year

Schools Served:

  • Sandstone Middle School students
  •  Armand Larive Middle School students

Important Notes:

  • This program is for students entering grades 6–8 in the upcoming school year
  • Current 8th grade students who will be entering high school should register for the Hermiston High School Summer Program instead

Summer Program for High School

Summer Program at Hermiston High School helps students stay on track for graduation by recovering one semester of credit in core classes. Courses are offered in person at a faster pace so students can earn credits in a short amount of time. An online credit recovery option is also available for families who prefer that format.

Summer program is offered to all students enrolled in the Hermiston School District. Registration for high school summer program opens March 23 and closes May 1.

Program Details:

  • Dates: June 15 to July 2
  • Students may recover one semester of credit (Semester 1 or Semester 2)
  • Courses may include: Communication (1–3), Math (1–2), World Studies, U.S. History, Biology, Health, Physical Science, and Anatomy & Physiology
  • Daily attendance is required due to the accelerated schedule
  • Students who miss more than two days will be transitioned to the online credit recovery program and will restart the course from the beginning

Online Credit Recovery Option:

  • Families may choose online credit recovery from the start
  • Session 2 (July 6–July 24) is invite-only for students who attend Session 1 and still need additional credits
  • Session 2 will be offered online only

9th Grade Academic Prep:

  • Offered during Session 1 for incoming freshmen
  • Designed to help students feel confident and prepared for high school
  • Enrollment is limited
  • Priority registration will be given to students identified by school staff as needing additional academic support

Kinder Camp for Incoming Kindergarteners

Kinder Camp is a fun, two-week program designed to help incoming kindergarten students feel confident and ready for their first year of school. Through playful learning, hands-on activities, and social interaction, students will build early skills, make new friends, and get comfortable in a school setting.

Online enrollment opens April 14 and closes May 1. 

Enrollment Capacity:

  • Enrollment is limited to 100 incoming kindergarten students

Program Details:

  • Location: Rocky Heights Elementary School
  • Dates: July 6 – July 17
  • Hours: 7:30am – 1:45pm
  • Open to incoming kindergarten students
  • Focus on school readiness, social skills, and early learning through fun, engaging activities
