Hermiston School District Student Recognized with National Horatio Alger Scholarship for the Second Consecutive Year

HERMISTON—The Hermiston School District is thrilled to announce that junior Robert Bartman has been awarded the prestigious National Horatio Alger Scholarship this spring. This marks the second consecutive year a student from our district has received this honor.

Robert Bartman's journey is a testament to the qualities of a high-achieving student. His pursuit of education funding, leadership, dedication to community service, and academic excellence set him apart. His story is one of hard work, determination, and a proactive search for opportunities, all of which have been instrumental in his success.

The National Horatio Alger Scholarship, a highly exclusive honor, is bestowed annually upon only 105 high school juniors nationwide. It provides $25,000 over four years of college and a year-long College Success Program during the senior year to prepare scholars for the transition to college. This scholarship is a lifeline for students with critical financial needs who have shown integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.

We are also proud to note that senior Andrea Sanchez Garavito was recognized as a 2023 Horatio Alger Scholar last year. Andrea's achievements set a remarkable precedent, which Robert has admirably upheld.

Applications for the next cycle of the Horatio Alger Scholarship will be available from December 1, 2024, to March 15, 2025. Students entering their junior year of high school in the fall of 2024 are encouraged to apply online at Horatio Alger

Estudiante del Distrito Escolar de Hermiston Reconocido con la Beca de National Horatio Alger por Segundo Año Consecutivo

Su historia es una de arduo trabajo, determinación, y una búsqueda proactiva de oportunidades, los cuales han sido herramientas en su éxito.

La Beca National Horatio Alger, un alto honor exclusivo, es otorgado anualmente a solo 105 estudiantes de grado 11 en toda la nación. Provee $25,000 a lo largo de cuatro años de colegio y un año del Programa College Success durante el último grado de preparatoria para preparar a los estudiantes a transitar al colegio. Esta beca sustenta estudiantes con necesidades financieras críticas que han mostrado integridad y perseverancia en sobresalir en la adversidad.   

Estamos muy orgullosos de notar a Andrea Sánchez Garavito, estudiante de grado 12, como la estudiante reconocida de Horatio Alger el año pasado en 2023. Los logros de Andrea han colocado un precedente notable, en el cual Robert se ha sostenido admirablemente.
