After an extensive hiring process, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fred Maiocco will recommend Bradley “Brad” Wayland as the Hermiston School District director of operations. Pending approval by the Board of Education, Wayland will start July 15. Mike Kay, the current director of operations is retiring from the Hermiston School District on June 30.

Mr. Wayland is currently the president of his own company, Sentry Security Consultants, LLC., in Hawthorne, Nevada. He has also served as the deputy project manager of operations for Triple Canopy in Reston, Virginia, and the director of facilities and operations for Central Valley School District, in Washington.

Mr. Wayland served in and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel and has over twenty years of experience in leading and supervising personnel and teams; operations management; facility and maintenance management; project and program management; policy and planning development, budgeting, contracting and financial management.

Mr. Wayland has a Master of Science in Management Science from the University of Ohio and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy.

We are confident that his contributions will continue to lead us in our endeavor to be the premier public school district in Oregon.”
